 Diplomatic Academy of Europe Accreditation of Prior Learning Experience 

Audience (particularly targeted)

  • Diplomats, Members of the Legislature and or the Judiciary
  • Government officials dealing with international trade, investment, commerce and economic issues, including the formulation and implementation of policies in one or more fields covered in the ACCD approved syllabus.
  • Qualified legal executives or practitioners in government offices and private law firms assisting governments in international litigation involving foreign trade, and or investors. 
  • Professionals from developing and transition countries and mid-and high-level officials involved in international trade policy/relations, multilateral trade negotiations, international policymaking, in particular the negotiation or implementation of international investment arbitration and agreements
  • Master or doctoral graduates whose research activities deal with international trade, investment and or commercial law, policy and or arbitration.

QCD Mandatory Qualifying Course

The Mastership programme consists of advanced specialist modules designed to provide a thorough understanding ocommercial diplomacy and international arbitration. Participation in the work-based/distance learning QCD Mandatory Qualifying Course is open to qualified practitioners from all continents, most especially officials from countries dealing with claims introduced by foreign investors and with the conduct of international arbitration (trade, investment and commercial) or wish to gain professional experience and exposure to the professional practice of commercial diplomacy.

 

Relevance

The Mastership Programme is particularly relevant for diplomats, commercial judges, senior foreign service officers, commercial counsellors, and or lawyers in government departments - Attorney-General's office, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Trade and Development, other relevant agencies or ministries, including the agencies responsible for the relations with foreign investors. Also, private law firms assisting governments in international litigation involving foreign trade, and or investors. 

 

Admission

Admission is offered only to those whom the Diplomatic Academy believe will succeed within any of its programmes, excel in their chosen diplomatic careers, and exhibit the competence and potential to lead and practice effectively. Assessment is based on a qualitative evaluation of proven practical professional experience, the information an applicant provides, and personal integrity. Becoming a Practitioner is your entry into the International Diplomatic Community. It is an investment that yields lifelong profits. Once an application is received, it is presented for evaluation and final decision.

 

Selection of Participants

All applicants must fully complete the Registration form and submit it with certified true copies of their qualifications, and a letter of recommendation from their current employer. Candidates will be evaluated on their total background including; experience, education, skills, training, personal and professional development, and integrity as it relates to the programme and profession. Selection for any of DAE programmes is made only from among candidates possessing the best and relevant qualification. Each application will be reviewed and selected participants will be informed in due time The principal advisors of the course will review each application and inform the selected participants in due time
